Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 26, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Sonic Preview ("the App", "we", "us") handles information when a merchant installs and uses it on a Shopify store. We built the App to do one thing — add audio previews to product pages — and we collect as little data as possible to make that work.

Summary

  • We do not collect, store, or process your customers' (buyers') personal data — no names, emails, addresses, or order details.
  • We store only what's needed to run the App: your store domain, the audio previews you upload, and your App settings.
  • Audio files are stored on Cloudflare R2 and delivered through a CDN.
  • All of your data is permanently deleted when you uninstall the App.

1. Information we process

When you install and use the App, we process the following merchant/store data:

  • Store identifier — your Shopify store domain (e.g. your-store.myshopify.com), used to associate your settings and previews with your store.
  • Audio previews — the audio files you upload for products or variants, together with generated waveform data and the public preview URL.
  • App settings — your configuration such as your current plan, preview quota usage, default preview length, player labels, and player colors.
  • Authentication tokens — a Shopify offline access token (and short-lived session tokens) that let the App securely call the Shopify Admin API on your behalf. These are never shared.
  • Product data — we read product and file information from your store (scopes: read_products, read_files) only to let you attach previews. We do not copy or retain your full product catalog.

We do not request, receive, or store any personal information about your customers. The App's storefront player only streams the audio preview you uploaded; it does not track or identify individual visitors.

2. How we use this information

  • To provide the core functionality: storing your previews and rendering the player on your product pages.
  • To enforce your plan's preview quota and process billing through Shopify.
  • To maintain, secure, and troubleshoot the service.

We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.

3. Where data is stored & our subprocessors

We rely on a small set of trusted providers to operate the App:

  • Cloudflare — object storage (R2) for your audio files and CDN delivery, plus DNS/TLS. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
  • Our cloud hosting provider — runs the App server and database that hold your store domain, settings, and preview records.
  • Shopify — the platform the App runs on; billing and authentication are handled by Shopify. See the Shopify Privacy Policy.
  • Crisp — powers the live-chat support widget on this website. If you start a chat, Crisp processes the information you provide (such as your message and email). See the Crisp Privacy Policy.

4. Data retention & deletion

We keep your data only while the App is installed. When you uninstall the App, we automatically and permanently delete your store record, settings, and all uploaded previews (including the files in storage). We also honor Shopify's mandatory data protection requests:

  • Shop data erasure — when Shopify sends a shop redaction request (typically 48 hours after uninstall), we hard-delete all data associated with your store.
  • Customer data request / erasure — because the App stores no customer personal data, these requests are acknowledged with no data to return or delete.

5. Cookies & the support widget

The marketing pages on this website do not use tracking or advertising cookies. The Crisp live-chat widget may set cookies or use local storage to maintain your chat session if you choose to contact us. The storefront audio player does not set cookies.

6. International data transfers

Our providers may process and store data in data centers located in different countries. Where required, these providers maintain appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

7. Your rights

Depending on your location (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your data. Because we store minimal merchant data and no customer personal data, the simplest way to exercise erasure is to uninstall the App. For any other request, contact us at the address below.

8. Children's privacy

The App is intended for businesses and is not directed to children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
